Completion of the Bikram 30 Day Challenge

I thought that the best way to start this blog, would be to post about my recent accomplishment at my studio.

I, along with 10 other students, completed the Bikram 30 day challenge. We started the challenge with 26 challengers (ironic number, I know), and 10 of us made it. The range of emotions skyrocketed and plummeted a few times in those 4 weeks. On day 3, I was on top of the world. By day 14, I was cursing at my teacher from the first breathing exercise. On day 17, I was soaring again as I had a huge breakthrough on the mat and off of it. My breakthrough on the mat : I can see my toes in Ustrasana (Camel Pose)! My breakthrough off of the mat : I found employment! Times 2! The director of the studio (pictured on the right) approached me about a front desk position on the same day that I signed on for a Support Staffing position at a local funeral home! I couldn't have been more elated. By day 26, I was ready to do doubles and be done with it so I could eat the ice cream I had promised myself for defeating the challenge. By day 30, 10 of us emerged from out last class full of smiles and soaking wet. We had been there for each other, through the (massive amounts of) sweat, tears and hundreds of gallons of water. We made it. Looking to each side every day, and watching my peers drag, skip, hop and dance into class with me, day after day, kept my spirits high. I can only hope I was as much inspiration to them as they were to me. I couldn't have done it without them.
